Narnia Inspired Treasure Maps

This morning we've been making treasure maps. Last night we finally watched "Narnia The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" and the boys are inspired.

Treasure maps and drawings (stained with coffee and soy sauce!)

We actually saw some of this film being shot back in September 2009 down near my mum's place at Cleveland Point in Brisbane. I'd taken the boys on a sleeper train from Sydney. It was an overnight trip. We left Sydney's Central Station at about 4pm and arrived into Brisbane at about 6:30am. I thought it would be my last opportunity to do this before the boys grew too much bigger as it's very squashy! Sharing a single bed with a six year old was definitely hard work, I couldn't do it now. Let's just say I didn't get much sleep but the trip really was magical. Especially the early part, the excitement of boarding and then following the Hawkesbury River into the Central Coast and then the trip early in the morning from Byron Bay.

I hope you're having a relaxing weekend. We're waiting, patiently, for my little sister to arrive from Brisbane. Px

The amazing Narnia ship. Apparently they chose this location as it's quite rare not to see land in the background, just water

Magic Hour on the Hawkesbury

Bedtime. They came and put the beds down at about 8pm

Early breakfast. Hot chocolate and toast with Vegemite!

The treasure maps are gorgeous! I adored the Narnia books as a littly and the Dawn Treader was by far my favourite in the series. I am longing to read it to my two and how lucky are you to see it being filmed! x

Those treasure maps look really cool, they would look great framed and hung up. What a fun trip to have with the boys, they will always have fond memories of going on the train up to Brisbane. xo
